My experience with this service department has left me with serious concerns about communication, transparency, documentation, and the quality of the work performed on my 2024 Toyota Tundra.
My truck required an extremely significant repair involving the engine and the removal and reinstallation of multiple major components. I purchased this truck new, and having this level of work performed so early in its life was already concerning. What made the experience worse was the difficulty I had getting clear answers and complete documentation regarding exactly what was replaced, what original components were reused, what testing was performed after the repair, and how the repair and replacement engine are covered under warranty.
Throughout the process, I repeatedly asked reasonable questions because I wanted a complete record of what had been done to my vehicle. Instead of providing the level of transparency I expected after such a major repair, I was repeatedly told that everything the dealership was authorized to provide had already been provided. At pickup, I was also presented with paperwork to sign while I still had unresolved concerns and questions. I was not comfortable signing documents simply to take possession of my truck without fully understanding and agreeing with what I was being asked to acknowledge.
My confidence was further affected after getting the truck back when I found a loose piece of hardware/part left in the passenger-side door compartment. After an engine replacement and the extensive amount of disassembly and reassembly involved, finding something like that is exactly the type of issue that makes a customer question whether bolts, fasteners, seals, alignments, connections, and other components were all properly reinstalled and inspected.
My concern is not simply that the truck had a defective engine. Toyota had to address that problem. My concern is how the entire repair and customer experience was handled afterward. When a nearly new vehicle undergoes this magnitude of repair, the customer should leave with complete confidence in the workmanship, documentation, warranty coverage, and post-repair testing. I did not.
I expected the service department to recognize why a customer would have serious questions after an engine replacement and work with me to document the repair thoroughly. Instead, the experience became unnecessarily difficult and adversarial.
At this point, I have the truck back, but I do not have the same confidence in the vehicle or in the repair that I had before this happened. That is extremely disappointing considering I purchased a new Toyota expecting reliability, quality, and strong support from Toyota and its dealer network.
I hope the dealership takes this feedback seriously. Major repairs require more than simply completing the mechanical work. They require careful workmanship, complete documentation, clear communication, and a willingness to address reasonable customer concerns. My experience fell short in those areas.

This Toyota service center, in summary, is UNPROFESSIONAL and LACKING IN EXCELLENCE. I do *not* recommend ANYONE get their vehicle serviced here. Make the drive to a further Toyota service center; it will be worth it, I promise.
I did my routine maintenance here, and they recommended changing my brakes per inspection. I opted in for the service, and got it done. However, since then, my brakes have been making a severe squeaking sound. I brought it BACK in for troubleshooting, and they took extremely long to get it done - leaving me without a car for multiple days. They did not communicate updates with me during this repair, other than when *I* reached out first. They said they repaired the brakes, and then said I needed to fix my front struts as well, which was an additional charge over double the cost of brakes. *This was not identified in my routine inspection at all.*
Once they "fixed" the brakes and the struts and finally got my car back to me, the squeaking sound got WORSE. I called to speak with their manager, but they kept redirecting me around and told me the manager would call me back—they NEVER called back.
If anyone is considering maintenance or repairs here, this is what you're going to get:
- NO communication
- extremely SLOW service (multiple days)
- EXTRA "recommendations" and charges
- ultimately, problems NOT RESOLVED

So I took my car in in February 2026 because the hydraulics & brackets needed to be replaced in my rear hatchback on my Highlander & they told me the brackets would be on back order with no eta, well I kept checking on the brackets & I even had to borrow a car because we had out of town trips & also needed to haul tables & chairs for a party & I could not open the hatchback, well trying to open the hatchback manually was so difficult I didn't have the strength to open/close it forcefully & even my husband which he's a strong big guy had trouble opening it so we had to borrow a car, so the customer service at AutoNation Toyota Gulf Frwy was not good at all. I would call or text the service advisor & either no one would answer the phone when I called I even tried 2 days in a row & no one would answer & sometimes the service advisor would not answer my texts messages & when he did it would be 2 days later! So finally in May 3 months later I had enough & called Corporate & they still tell me they are waiting on brackets then finally a few days later they came in! This was so unacceptable & ridiculous having to wait 3 months for something as minor as brackets & not returning calls/texts to give updates & especially not having this kind of part available! Next time I have a problem I will take it to Mike Calvert Toyota where I bought my car & hopefully will not have to deal with unacceptable customer service as I did from them. I'm a very patient & understanding person but waiting 3 months for any part to come in for a car is just not acceptable & they need to work on their customer service, also if & when I choose to trade in my car I will not be doing business with them!
