My husband transferred from the VA hospital for longer term care while recovering. The staff was friendly, caring, and knowledgeable. They really work to get the patient moving and back home asap. Sometimes slow at delivering meds. Meals not that great but I was able to bring in food and visit him as long as I had a weekly covid test.
The rooms have lots of windows which is a plus for the mood.
Ellen at the front desk was very helpful in helping me find a place to get covid tested so I could see my husband.
I had really high hopes for this place when my family chose Nexus for my brother's care after suffering a stroke. The doctor's I would say did a great job in the plan of care for him while he was there, but unfortunately like stated in other reviews some of the nurses work is mediocre. My brother was in their care for a little more than two months and through out his stay there were small incidents (should have been red flags) that would occur, but we would not make a big fuss about because we would see my brother was making small improvements with the pt, ot and st he was receiving. Our last straw was when he aspirated on his pills because his nurse made the choice of giving him all his pills at once. My brother had to be moved back to ICU. When I talked to the charge nurse to get an explanation of what happened all they said was they were not sure and they were going to do an investigation. I reached out to Mathew Richards who is the director of quality, but was never able to get of hold of him on the phone. He did respond to my emails and in his last email on May 11 he was still waiting on the other side of the story in order for him to give me a call and explain to me in detail what led up to the events in question. It is May 26 and have yet to receive the so called "explanation of events". I guess it was easier for them to discharge my brother that same week without further explanation.
Update 06/02/2021: Indeed. I received an email from Mathew Richards yesterday. According to him formal letters have been sent out. Will have to wait for the "formal letter" to see the end result for the investigation that took almost a month to complete.... or was it my review that made him reach out. Who knows.

My son has been here since October 2020 and has shown some improvement, but there is no communication. There are a few employees that go above and beyond which is Geranda in appointments, RaTashia - Case Manager, and Robert W. in transportation. I can speek for New Genesis house only, but they have lost many of his clothes as well as other items. Most of the time when I see him, he is not even wearing his own clothes. There is not enough staff to client ratio. This house is for the most needy and many times there have been only 2 staff members. Clients or most clients are wheelchair bound and need much attention. The Occupational and Physical therapist do not communicate and will say that the clients have reached their potential without calling and discussing with you. The speech therapist is wonderful though. They say that they are trying to improve, but I do not recommend putting your loved one here.

Please do not believe the lies. They erase the real reviews. If you value your loved one THIS IS NOT THE PLACE.

Professionalism, quality of service, and enthusiastic staff make Nexus Speciality Hospital truly speciality. Every minute spent in their company is worthwhile.
My father suffered a massive stroke, was in the hospital and then transferred here. My family and I are thankful for the level of care that he is getting. The doctors and staff are nice and understanding. Still in progress, and we know he is in good hands.
Charles Strobe, COTA Alvin Poole PTA, Caleb Scott, PT, and Myranda Sykes, Rehab Tech all helped me in my recovery. They pushed me and I really appreciate them, now I am able to go home
My 93 year old mother Ouida Collier was a patient at your Nexus facility from April 30th to May 19th following hospitalization at St. Luke’s. She received excellent and thoughtful care from all involved- including doctors, nurses, speech pathologists, and all staff. Because of your great care, she was able to return to her long term care facility in good health! Thanks so much!!
