Poor communication. You need to be there every day checking on your loved one.
Not attentive to patients in their rooms. My dad had to call me when he had chests pains, so that I would call Nexus and get someone in his room, ambulance was then called.

Whoever is reading this TRUST ME when I this place is the most horrible facility! I have so many horror stories regarding the care my brother received while at this facility. Most of the nurses he had were so mean and rough. Please don't put your loved one here! He had septic on their watch times but by the grace of GOD he is still here. Also a bed sore infected so bad. I have pictures and lots of documentation that I would love to share with upper management regarding this facility! The experience was very very poor! I complained many times but we continued to have horrible care. Nobody cares here! We saw so many people die here it was horrific! They need to be shut down! We were there with our loved one all of the time because he was terrified to be left alone with the staff. The experience we had was horrible I'm not sure where they hire their nurses from but most are terrible! They don't care.

My elderly dad was transferred here from Memorial Hermann in mid-December 2022. He had NO bedsores upon arrival. After three weeks of neglect, horrible nurses, and non-existent doctors, we transferred him to PAM Rehabilitation In Humble & found massive bedsores on his backside from neglect that he is still having difficulty healing from over a month later. Uncalled for & negligent. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy. I've also filed complaints with the state and federal oversights. DO NOT check your loved ones into this place!

I referred a close family friend to this facility as they were known to me several years ago as my employer. When I worked there, the care was exceptional however, the recent care receive by my best friends father was unacceptable. Medical staff was sparce in the ICU and the family requested to speak with his physician multiple times and was told repeatedly they just missed him even when visiting at various times. Their requests for care and goals were responded to with a blatant attitude that they were being bothered. Over a 3 days holiday, there was zero therapy or bed turns completed resulting g in the pt development of multiple skins wounds that are having to be addressed at his current level of care. This pt was super sick on on a vent when first admitted to Nexus, but the time of his DC he had been weened off the vent and ready to working therapy but there wasn't much offered. As an LTACH, therapy is available and the lack of it being offered to the ptos unacceptable and has delayed the pt from getting back to his prior level of function. Overall it was a terrie experience and I will not be referring anyone else to Nexus. It is disappointing that the care has declined so much. Nexus used to be an elite
LTACH. I hope their leaders work to elevate their care after reading this review.

My mother was here. She was just put on a mattress. My dad stayed with her and they tried forcefeeding her benadryl while she was sleeping and they tried getting my father to sign an AMA for transference to a differend rehab center. She also was on her period and they didn't know where their feminine hygene products were and told her they didn't have any. They also attempted to deny her the restroom until she was evaluated, as this was post 7, they weren't there. They also refused to transfer her to a wheelchair and we had to get one from the car and transfer her ourselves.

Overall, this was a very poor experience from management and a few nurses. There were several nurses that were great including one of the Dr's. Everything starts of great as things usually do, but like the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Bed sore that wasn't cared for until too late, constantly having to tell a few of the nurses that his monitors were going off, feeding tube coming dislodged a couple times causing infections, his rectal catheter coming dislodged and him covered in his own feces, and numerous other things that you would think to be highly attentive over a stroke patient. Toward the end of our grandfather's fight he coded one night and no one said anything to us and when we called to check on him at night, we were told he was good and sleeping. Our grandmother was escorted off the premises by police while the love of her life for 60 years was dieing because she didn't want to leave his side and couldn't trust Nexus. Choose wisely for the sake of your loved ones care.

My Pawpaw had a stroke on November 17, 2021. After a lengthy hospital stay in the Houston med center, we told he would need specialized care. Nexus Specialty Hospital in Shenandoah, TX was the facility we chose, but as a family we all came to regret that decision. The doctors and most of the nursing staff was excellent. My Pawpaw was a very sick man, and around 3:30am one morning, he nearly coded. My Memaw arrived at 10am when visiting hours started, and walked into his hospital room full of nurses. She then found out the severity of his condition, and questioned WHY no one called her. The reason we were gave on multiple occasions was because the nurse had been "too busy" to call. That's a 6 hour time span that no one called! The nursing manager told her she could stay overnight, no problem. She stayed with him all day, and at 8pm was told she needed to leave because visiting hours were over. She expressed her concern with leaving, because his condition was critical, and no one had called her to tell her he almost coded that morning. She also told them she had permission to stay. The police were called and she was ultimately escorted out of the facility. She's 76 years old with serious heart issues of her own, and was so beside herself that we were all concerned for her health as well! We were then told that we were all barred from the facility, pending an investigation by the administration there. We had to contact Texas Right To Life attorneys to gain access to our beloved family patriarch. In the time we weren't allowed to be with him, we called to check on his condition several times a day. The nurses weren't very forthcoming with info and gave the bare minimum. After we regained access to visit, the administration would only allow ONE family member per day to visit him. He was eventually placed in hospice care. The day came that we all had to say our goodbyes, and instead of respecting our time left with my Pawpaw, one of the hospital administrators stood in the hallway, watching us and talking to the charge nurse. We weren't allowed to go into his room as a family. Instead, we had to just go in four people at a time to say our goodbyes. Even near death, my Pawpaw was not given the peace and dignity to be surrounded by family. If you're looking for a facility with compassion and consideration, I BEG you to look elsewhere. You won't find what you're looking for here.

After my grandpa had a stroke, we chose this place for his recovery. The nursing staff are mostly great if you don’t count the one who lied to us, and about my family. I wouldn’t put my least favorite dog into the care of these people after our experience here. Please choose somewhere else to place your loved one.
