I have just had a very negative experience with this office. I purchased a car insurance policy from Texas Farm Bureau with Sean Hartgrove as the agent. He was very respectful and professional in our conversation. I just recently found a different company with a better offer, and I attempted to reach Sean and his assistant by phone. After leaving voicemail messages and an email, I did receive an email response saying the policy had been cancelled that day, which was when I requested. However, there was no mention that the auto-deduct payment would still be charged to may account after the policy was cancelled, which it was two days later. After a lengthy process with my bank to address it, a few days later I received 3 letters from Texas Farm Bureau, one of which was a refund check. After I deposited the check, TFB cancelled the check, and it was withdrawn from mt account. I certainly do not appreciate the lack of communication. I am not able to recommend this group to anyone and will not be a returning customer.

2 thumbs down on Sean Hartgrove and TX Farm Bureau. After reading Michelle Murphy’s review, I see that Hartgrove has been jerking people around for at least 7 years. I had similar experiences with Sean as well as his agency manager, Matt Carter. Folks,, pls pay attention to these negative reviews. My auto/home bundle ended with TX Farm Bureau on June 30, 2025. Once I received new quotes beginning on July 1, 2025, I decided to look for better rates and found them. I repeatedly told Hartgrove that I would NOT renew with him. He ignored my requests and TFB debited $5251.50 for renewed policies! As of yet, Hartgrove, Matt Carter, and Daylan Bible (home office) have made it a point to deny my refund, even when they had no authorization to debit my credit union account. I paid a visit to my credit union, giving them proof of my new auto/home bundle which began July 1. The credit union gave me a “provisional credit”, which is a temporary credit on the $5251.50 until the TFB dispute is resolved. The provisional credit is good for 45 days. Matt Carter and Daylan Bible continue telling me that I received a credit on the $5251.50. They’re playing dumb by pretending to not understand what a provisional credit means. The credit union manager issued the provisional credit, not TFB. Does TFB deal in collusion and scams? I’d like to know how many people this has happened to. At some point, TFB sent 2 refund checks for the 2 policies that I didn’t want and don’t have. I deposited these 2 checks at Chase Bank. TFB refused to honor my refund checks with Matt Carter telling me this: “Our policy services department stated that the payments that were made to us were not honored by the bank. TFB put a stop pay on the 2 refund checks that were sent to you because the initial payments were not honored by your bank. Per our conversation today please let me know what your bank says. I apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for your time and have a blessed day.” An outright lie. I called Chase Bank. Chase said, NO, they did not stop pay on the 2 checks. Why would they? Hartgrove, Carter, and Bible continue to ghost me on my refund. Hartgrove had the nerve to say, “one day I’d like to get you back to TFB.” HUH?? Folks, Save yourself and your bank account. Sleaze abounds here. DO NOT do business with this company. I’ve never done business with people who lie, ghost, and plow ahead to debit unauthorized money from one’s account.

READ THIS BEFORE SIGNING A POLICY WITH SEAN
First let me say, my wife and I have been customers of Sean for years. Her whole side of the family were also customers of Sean's. We have all left him and cancelled all policies.
In the last year, my auto insurance had gone up over $120/month. We were paying $450/month for two cars. No tickets, no accidents or claims while signed with him. He will try and talk you into staying and that the prices will eventually go down again. Never in the several years we had our policy did the price ever go down. Go get quotes anywhere else and it will be $100-200 less then what TXfarm charges.
Sean is also horrible about keeping up with changes. I had turned 25 while in the middle of our 6 month term, and I had to call him several months later to change the age on my policy to get the price down.
It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to reach Sean. I have maybe had two conversations with him in the 2-3 years I've had my policy. I've talked more with his assistant and office staff. He is always in several hour lunches, or "work Trips" or on vacation.
Transparency doesn't exist. You cannot go look to see what your Uninsured motorists are insured for. You cannot check what your Passenger Liability is insured for. I think one of the reasons why Sean always ups the price is because he raises all these numbers without telling you.
Conclusion: You can find the same policy coverage for literally hundreds of dollars cheaper anywhere else. Avoid this shady salesman at all costs. Would rate 0/5 if I could.

If I could leave zero stars I would. I was with this company for 2 yrs and they cancelled my insurance without telling me. I had been driving 2 months without insurance. Something terrible could have happened to me, my car , and my family. I was a uninsured motorist. I didn't even know for 2 whole months. They couldn't reinstate me even though I had done everything they asked. I paid ecry month. They just dropped a good paying customer. Remember no insurance for 2 months and I didn't even know it.

Where do I start with this guy. He is the epitome of a greasy, sleezyball salesman. He was all smiles and jokes before we bought the policy, but once we did, he immediately ghosted us. He charged me double one month and never responded to my requests to refund. He never responded to my submission of defensive driving to lower my rate. Upon cancelling my policy, he emailed me back with the 6th grader's response in the picture attached. Seriously? What is insurance for? My husband called him to ask what he meant by this snarky email, and he began to tell him, "We are not the Salvation Army." WHAT?!? We only had one claim in nearly a year and a half - almost two years! This guy is a serious sociopath. He was one of those sassy nerds in high school who never got over all the teasing. Don't make it our problem, BRAH.
