Methodist was extremely busy. But I was feeling terrible and they sat me on an uncomfortable chair in the hallway and I ended up sitting on the floor so I could lean against the wall and lean my head on the chair. I was there right at 4 hours. I believe one nurse saw me sitting on the floor and asked if I was alright. They had cots along the walls which I could have layed on.

ICU was great, my mother received excellent care....until everyone ran out the door for the holiday weekend. The nurses are awesome but now the attending who was to talk to us 16 hours ago has still not made an appearance.... unacceptable.

Gave birth here back in January. The team that admitted me and helped deliver my baby were AMAZING, especially Becca. She said I did all the work, but her support means more than she knows. Thank you to Becca and Dr. Dobyne for taking care of me and my baby!
I will say, however, the lactation consultants here can be VERY judgmental especially if they see a pacifier. I struggled to breastfeed due to my baby having a lip tie and one of the lactation consultants said to my face it was my fault my baby couldn't latch. We CHOSE to introduce a pacifier early because it helps prevent SIDS, and no one thought to check my baby for anything that could cause latching issues.
Overall, I don't have any regrets choosing Methodist L&D. Just be sure you have someone with you who can advocate for you and your baby if things don't seem right.

Have patience for your patients. 2nd floor receptionist was so rude. Everyone else was good. But the fact you start with someone tapping their foot aggressively and being a diva is inacceptable.

If wait times for a new patient to see a specialist is 3-4 months, how different is the American healthcare system from Universal healthcare in Canada?? When a specialty is in demand why have only one specialist in that clinic? Can the hospital not hire more providers to accommodate the demand for care? I tried to get an appointment for moderate venous insufficiency in my legs and there is only one provider whose next available appointment offered to me was August 27th!!

I have worked with various physicians at Methodist Sugar Land and have been blessed with excellent care, outside of one doctor, for whom I left a review on her individual page.
But my time with Dr. Larry Tran, Dr. Toussaint Smith, Dr. Margaret Umah, Dr. Jessen Rajan, Dr. Sunnesh Nair, and all the representatives at the same-day clinics and imaging centers have been a breath of fresh air during my hospital and doctor’s visits. As a person who deals with various illnesses, it feels good to work with providers who listen, are kind, and work tirelessly to ensure your conditions improve. I thank you all for your help over the years, and I am counting down the time when I can return to work and obtain insurance so I can continue visiting Methodist.

I had a bit of a wait while in extreme pain, the nurse explained they were short handed but there was only 1 person ahead of me. Dr Nguyen fortunately saw the issue on the cat scan (bowel obstruction) and sent me home with a laxative that takes 2-3 days (!) to work. It is day 4 since Methodist and almost 2 weeks since I started going to different ER's only to be told different diagnoses and forms of treatment that weren't effective. While the laxative is starting to work slowly, I have nothing for pain, and OTC pain medicine makes constipation worse. I called to see if I could use an enema but the woman said they don't give out medical advice over the phone. I have had 1-2 hours of sleep per day and am trying to function like that. Not working. Now I understand why people self-medicate, which sometimes results in overdoses. They are looking for relief from their doctor, but the doctor gives them treatment that has a layaway plan for results and relief. After 2 weeks of misdiagnoses from place to place, I finally found someone who would listen and look at an urgent care, and found out I have shingles. All of the antibiotics I was given gave me more pain and did nothing for shingles except make it worse. I was constipated on one side because it is the side that the shingles is on. The inflamed nerves were affecting my digestive system function. Just an FYI to those in the medical community, since I was told my side hurt so bad from the pressure of being constipated. Wrong!**P.S. I forgot to mention that I had a bruise on my right arm from a failed IV started at UTMB, so Methodist inserted an IV in my left arm and the imaging department said it was not good enough to put dye in so they put another IV in my right arm in the bruise I already had, while looking on an ultrasound machine for a vein. Very painful, even while high on morphine that I was given when I arrived. It is unbelievable to me that at every ER they claim to not be able to find a vein, but when I get a blood draw at Kelsey Seybold they manage to find a vein effortlessly and insert the needle with minimal pain. How nurses receive their certification yet can't insert an IV is beyond me.

I have mixed feelings about this place but I will do my best to give an accurate opinion. I love the fact that the hospital is close to our house it is probably the only reason my wife is still alive. The nurses have been great, glad they have thick skin I got upset with them a few times and they let me vent. The Dr's were not communicating with each other in my opinion, I feel that they are under staffed and it puts the burden on the patient. My wife had a heart issue and is in ICU, the heart doctor said he can't do any test until the kidney doctor sees her so you would think they would coordinate this and make it happen but no such luck. So now I'm sitting here watching a monitor and seeing things get worse and so I called her primary Dr and he basically said look at the hospital reviews and you will know what to do. So I called around and will be transferring my wife to a hospital that specializes with the heart. This hospital is great for other services according to the reviews but not for what she needs. So do your research this place did it's job and kept her alive and I am greatly appreciative of them for that. However I believe they are under staffed and that is what's causing most of the issues I read about.
