I want to thank all the nurses who took such great care of my dad at Oceans Behavioral Hospital in Katy. It is a great facility with caring staff, I would highly recommend this facility for anyone looking for behavioral health care services. Ms. Victoria Dailey MSW Case Manager/ Discharge Planner was exceptional in placing my dad into a facility and gave us personalized care. She worked very hard on finding the best place for my dad and kept us informed during the process. Her team really care about their patients and this was a big help to me and my family.

I have had the privilege of working closely with Oceans Hospital. On a plethora of occasions, when my patients were in need, they received outstanding care paired with excellent bedside manner. The marketer Cindy went above all expectations to aid in the smooth transition of all patients. I am truly grateful for the amount of professionalism exhibited and amazing care demonstrated to my patients.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. My dad was there less than two days, then we got a call he had been vomiting blood for 12 hours and they had just sent him to the hospital! Why did they wait 12 hours to send him to the ER? We never got an answer. Once in the ICU there was evidence of my father’s feet and legs that he had been dragged across the floor - wounds that were NOT there before he was admitted to Oceans. Sadly, my father never recovered and passed away a couple days later. Don’t send anyone here. Find someplace else.

My mother in law, a dementia patient was sent to Oceans for mild behavioral issues. After a few weeks & much persistence by her family she was released. What started a bit rough produced some pleasing results. Our love & persistence for her is what helped to change how she was cared for. They realized that her care was important to us & we weren't backing down until we got results. After that was established, they worked with us. Tracy, the Dir. Of clinical services was great. She, Tiffany & Mary were very informative at the end. All in all her stay wasn't so bad after all. Her meds were adjusted & she seems better.

Awful...I recently had my mother here and it was the worst experience. I could not get the Dr. to return my calls. I overheard the nurses talking about a female staff member that died in the admissions area about 1yr and 1/2 ago. Administration did not stop admissions! My gosh! They covered her up with a blanket on the floor and kept admitting patients!! Nurses complaining on being short staffed without any help from the leadership nurses. The DON and ADON don't ever leave their offices. These nurses were sharing other places of opportunities to apply and leave here. I called one night to speak to my mother and could hear the staff arguing loudly with the elderly patients. My mother was never brought to the phone and apparently a staff member just hung up the phone. My mother was clearly over sedated when she was returned to assisted living. DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. I work in healthcare and am seriously considering calling STATE.

I see a few bad reviews here, and I am not quite sure what the facility was like before, but I know that there have been some recent changes in the staff at Ocean’s Medical. My Father left there not too long ago, and I couldn’t be happier with the way he was treated, and the way I was treated by the staff! The upper management was on the ball by keeping me updated about my Father’s stay there, and they reached out to me on other dealings as well! All in all, for a situation that is a stressful one, trying to deal with everything that’s going on, I would say that the staff did an excellent job of handling any situations that would arise. A special thank you to Joanna and Crystal in upper management, for going the extra mile!

I agree with Cindy, my husband, her dad, was sent back to his memory care facility yesterday with no call to either of us or to the memory care facility and he was being released from Ocean. When he returned to his memory care facility, the director said he was very emotionally and ended up sleeping for hours. I could go on and on about the lies, the non-returned phone calls, no communication at all from the doctor--not one call. etc. Seems as though my insurance is good, so they got almost four weeks worth of payment. These patients need help, but so does the staff and management.

I just took my wife out of Oceans this morning and wanted to say a few things about her 8 day stay there. The first 2 days were difficult. She begged me to take her out and I was sorely tempted. Upon advice from family and friends I decided to leave her in a few more days to stabilize her medications...and am so glad I did!!! The horror stories she had been telling me about the staff and conditions in the hospital she admitted were delusions...Nobody wants to be in the hospital and she was no exception but, she feels and acts much better than when she was admitted...I just needed to learn to be a little more patient...While she still has a long road ahead of her...she now has some hope...Thanks to the staff and Doctors...

If I could have not chosen a star I wouldn't have. They don't deserve it. My mother spent 2 1/2 weeks there and it was like pulling teeth to get anyone to call me back. The Dr there, Dr Kiam is useless. I called everyday to talk to him about my mothers care and he called me back. And when I went to visit her she was in a wheelchair. Too weak to walk they said. Tho she walked in there. She also developed a bed sore and she also came out with a very bad cough and rattling in her chest. These things tell me she stayed in bed the whole time. She will not return to this facility again.

This place is terrible. The doctors are impossible to get hold of. They are only there part time and their hours seem very inconsistent. If you leave word daily that you want to talk to a doctor, they might get back to you in a few days (or not at all). They misdiagnosed my mother in law and somehow missed that she was schizophrenic (I guess the delusions didn't tip them off).
The doctor (Wawa? Woowoo? we never really got his name) told us that a few days before he was ready to release her, they'd be in touch to work out care after her release. Instead, we got a call at 4pm to pick her up the next day. When we picked her up (she was still very symptomatic and we tried to tell them she wasn't in any condition to leave), we were told to bring her to an outpatient program with no further instructions. Well, that didn't work out, my mother in law was kicked out of the outpatient program after a few days because she was not participating and wandered off for a pedicure in the middle of the day. So, she was not well enough to participate in an outpatient program, but was released anyway.
We heard stories from other visitors of no communication from doctors, patients not getting the clothing they were left, altercations between patients, patients being bruised by orderlies, and other stories of generally bad care.
Bottom line: If you care about someone, don't bring them here.
