Worst birthing experience ever. Should have stayed with the woodlands. Not only was my recovery room having the bed fall apart the nurses were horrible and beyond rude to the point they make you feel bad for giving birth. After birth she yanked me off the toilet before I could even use it and said hurry you need to go to the recovery room. Watch out for coughing Debbie she will spit cough all over you and your newborn. Laction nurses were not helpful they refused to let me use a pump and said I couldn’t have a nipple shield said my nipples were too big so the refused any service to help me as a matter of fact they are not and use standard 24mm. Housekeeping wouldn’t come and get my postpartum trash they didn’t even have a photographer to take the newborn pictures. After 24 hours you are released they didn’t do the hour car seat test or weigh my newborn or check for jaundice. If you love yourself and your unborn child i strongly suggest you go elsewhere bc this place is terrible.

The Emergency Department area is no place to go when you really need it! I drove my self here to think I will be seen right away after I was bleeding in area nobody should and sat for 12 hours before i was put in a temporary Room ! The Dr I did see after 45 minutes from being there in the beginning he was very nice and said to me you are not going home after he seen all the blood it still took them 11 more hours before I can be put in a room! The pain I was in and the stress and knowing that my life is at stake and they act like it wasn't even a big deal the staff in the back don't understand how badly you need help asap it's sad ! They really need to go back and get trained to be more professional and more effective at there job! I ended up going to another part of the emergency area which was better than the actual emergency room I was released on Friday afternoon. I hope I don't have to go there again for emergency help! I go because they are closer to my house than to go anywhere else! So please Herman Memorial Southeast take care of patients that really need help with their life !

My experience with the PCP office is amazing. Dr. Shafiq is the best PCP I have ever had.

However today's experience was for a screening mammogram. The tech was nice, and helpful. It was the experience I had until I saw the tech that was worse than a 1 star. There is a women's only waiting room......but this is for ALL of imaging! The gown is only one size and is huge. To the point I had to roll the sleeves under and keep my arms down for any modesty. The waiting room which I waited a long time in this huge gown ( other women were there they were completely dressed for other imaging.) The waiting room was just cold and felt very dehumanizing while I sat there where any other women in the waiting room could clearly see my body through the sleeve holes. No robe or anything to go over the gown. Just showed me where the blankets are to get myself. There was nothing to comfort you while waiting for this horrible procedure.
Taking the time to drive to THE WOODLANDS imaging center is well worth it. Their waiting room is only women waiting for a mammogram, they have nice chairs and low lighting and lavender scent. They offer different size gowns and robes. The techs are very warm and inviting the waiting room makes you feel like there is nothing to worry about. Calms your nerves and makes you feel like you are a woman and you deserve a good atmosphere. I cried in the parking lot at CCC Kingwood before I could drive home.

A well-running machine in the ER! Amidst not having beds (in the rest of the hospital) they did everything they could to make mom as comfortable as possible. BIG shoutout to Macey/Macie in triage/lobby for being patient with my mom AND the other many patients. She quickly won my mother’s heart with a smile, and kept it with proficient and educated attention (despite the chaos of your standard ER waiting room). I watched as the waiting room was methodically emptied around midnight. All the staff was respectful, and purpose driven. It’s busy, but they work hard. I’m so grateful mom chose Southeast for further care! 🥰🖤 I appreciate the informative and direct communication.

Labor and deliver was good. Postpartum room not so much. I felt everyone was calm, nice and helpful during my labor especially when it became difficult. I was alittle upset that my own doctor couldn’t deliver my baby but I understand, the only issue i have is I had a c section and 3 weeks later I get a hole in my incision, which I feel shouldn’t happen. Luckily nothing was infected or coming out. Trust me, i took my healing process serious. Now afterwards, I freaked out by pain and my husband/baby leaving the room then when i did come back to the delivery room since there wasnt a room yet for postpartum, i was not 100%, couldn’t see and was freaking out and a nurse was getting mad that I was not breastfeeding, my mom explained that i was not in the right space to feed him due to being loopy and i had no strength. Then i dealt with postpartum nurses that i felt gave me all different answers about how to care for a C-section incision. I had a nurse who wouldn’t really talk and only called me mamma and would forget to disconnect my iv when it was finished and she was always quick to. They give you hope that you are leaving by saying oh ur discharging around this time then someone else walks in 30 minutes later im sorry but you have to stay here another day because you lost more blood then normal….. then day 3 I was caring for my baby while my husband was sleeping since he took care of me and baby, i blacked out and heard my baby crying, he was on the floor.. i felt so bad. They took care of it quick and reassured me that it happens and at leaat i called but the problem was they never put the railing up! And a nurse saw it much later and i could tell in her face that she was like oh shoot and put the railing up. Yet again they said said we were still good to go home soon and then said i couldn’t because of a little fracture to his skull, which trust me, i get to stay but do not give hope to mothers that they are going home and then say oh sorry u cant. And some of the nurses or doctors were rude and did not know how to talk to postpartum moms and deliver “bad” news. I was mad at a nurse when she talked about my baby’s weight when going home and lost 10% and she was like that is alot and im like but isn’t that normal and she said u need to feed him. Also can we talk about lactation nurses, one of them was rude, but i feel they should always come in and check because some moms can be embarrassed and dont like to ask for help till it’s a big problem, i never got checked on till i called and one of them was rude about it. And when i asked for help they thought it was crazy that my baby was 0-100 when going to my breast and they really didn’t know what to do. Yes they helped with positions but they were acting like they never seen that before and made me discouraged. Amongst all of this i did develop post partum depression and ptsd.. speaking of, wait till moms are going home to do the postpartum questions or like a week later. They ask right away to fill all of this out but in the moment you’re just on a high from having a baby.some dont know how they really feel. And back to c section, they really need to let moms know how to help them what to do when sneezing and coughing, etc. i read other reviews and memorial hermann saying oh fill this out, i already did but i wanted to put this out here for others. And i know someone else who gave birth who had problems as well. I thank those who were kind amd the best help.

My father entered this hospital for a routine knee surgery. He never came home.

After surgery, he developed obvious signs of infection — yellow drainage and severe blistering at the surgical site. We raised concerns and were told it was likely compression from bandaging. It was never clearly communicated to us as a serious infection requiring urgent action.

As his condition declined, he was transferred to the ICU and placed under sedation. My mother — his wife and legally designated medical decision-maker — was repeatedly reassured that he was stable and that everything possible was being done. Meanwhile, his kidneys began to fail and his blood pressure dropped significantly. We were not given a full picture of how severe his condition truly was.

On the day he died, my mother was told they could continue aggressive treatment or let him go. She asked about stopping sedation so decisions could be made intentionally.

That is when she was informed that sedation had already been stopped two days earlier.

She was never told. She never consented.

This was a major medical decision made without the knowledge or approval of the legally authorized decision-maker. In an ICU setting, sedation changes are not minor adjustments — they directly affect a patient’s awareness, comfort, and end-of-life care.

After his passing, we learned from the death certificate that the official cause of death was sepsis. We were never clearly told he was septic while he was alive.

Our family experienced a devastating lack of transparency, communication, and informed consent during the most critical moments of his care.

No family should be left in the dark. And no decision-maker should be excluded from major medical decisions involving their loved one’s life.

My father deserved better.

Thank you to my entire team for helping me make the best of a frustrating situation. They were very helpful with updates while I waited in the ER, even moved my bed to a quieter hallway while I waited to be admitted. Staying 3 nights in a hospital room is not a fun time, but the team in the Cullen ward were attentive, made me as comfortable as they could, and were generous with offers of care. Things move slowly when there are multiple departments involved, but everyone from the doctors on down were communicative and accessible as much as possible. Shout out to Nurse Edna for showing me the calming atrium where I could relax outside of my room for a while. Shout out to all the support staff for dealing with me when I was tired, hungry, and cranky. Sorry I can't remember more names, but y'all were awesome!
