The hotel was a dream experience on every level. The personalized gentle check in, the incredibly accommodating and diverse staff who were warm and friendly (All of them were wonderful, especially notable: Charles)
I especially love when a five star hotel still manages to be relaxed and fun instead of stuffy.
The room (tower) was SPOTLESS and quiet and exactly what I needed. The room service was delicious and the beautiful bar was a wonderful addition to the stay. I hope to return, until then I will cherish what a wonderful stay I had. Thank you to the staff who made a birthday weekend so special.
Off the chart lovely experience, location, and staff. I had no idea this part of Houston was so walkable and beautiful.
We had the warmest greeting when we arrived at the hotel. The valet, front desk, and other team members were generous with their smiles and greetings toward our children. The bungalow was a wonderful solution to traveling with two children who wake at different times. Overall the hotel felt luxurious and well appointed. The art, color palette, and even the scent of the hotel offered a wonderful escape from the day to day.
My singular recommendation is for the hotel to switch to electric leaf blowers and away from gas powered tools. The noise and smell of gas powered leaf blowers interrupts the otherwise relaxing environment.
We celebrated my birthday at Hotel Colombe d’Or, and it was a truly wonderful experience. The team did a beautiful job helping to organize everything, suggesting the best solutions for the event we had wanted to create.
The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed, and the setting created the perfect backdrop for a special gathering with friends. The staff was attentive, thoughtful, and genuinely kind, which made the evening feel both seamless and personal. Food and drinks were amazing.
I’m very grateful for how well everything was handled — it was a memorable celebration, and we felt very well taken care of. Thank you to the entire team and we definitely will be back.
Excellent experience. Stayed here during a visit to Houston + wedding anniversary. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. You always feel welcomed as you come and go. The location to me is ideal. The rooms elegant and clean. The art! Art everywhere. Beautiful
We love this place. We've only stayed in the bungalows, but they are awesome. It appears the hotel purchased a 1960's courtyard apartment building and converted it to nightly rooms. The courtyard is a beautiful, romantic spot. And the mansion is a short walk away with full restaurant and bar. Honestly, there's so much more. You should just come spend a weekend here and see for yourself.
Words cannot describe how beautiful, elegant, chic, and exclusive this venue truly is for the Houston area! I naturally love microweddings so when I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph Joe & Bianca's wedding day, it was a dream come true! From the gorgeous dining room, to the outdoor space for the ceremony, and of course the bar, it just cannot get better than this downtown Houston hotel! The cleanliness and care that has put into this hotel and the management to have intimate weddings can be seen from a mile away; they really have put so much effort into creating a welcoming space overall and it shows! I enjoyed photographing here recently for B & J's wedding and cannot wait to be back here in the near future!! 🤍💒
The hotel’s location is excellent, but the inconsistency between room types is disappointing. I’ve stayed in both the tower and the bungalow suites, and I would not recommend the bungalow unless perhaps you’re planning a long-term stay. The hotel does a poor job of explaining what to expect from the bungalow accommodations, which are not nearly as well-appointed as the tower rooms. They feel more like a hastily renovated apartment with trendy furniture than a true luxury hotel experience.
We also encountered several issues during our stay. Although the concierge said they would assist, they never followed up or provided an explanation as to why nothing could be done. If you need more space, you’d be better off renting an Airbnb; otherwise, I strongly recommend booking a tower suite.

I'm a wedding photographer in Houston and I am always scouting for locations that blend history with a modern, chic aesthetic, La Colombe d'Or delivers exactly that.
I recently photographed a wedding couple getting ready here, and the renovated boutique atmosphere provided such a sophisticated backdrop for portraits.
The architecture and the grounds are stunning, offering so many unique spots for high-end, timeless photos. The bar area is beautiful and the hotel location is super accessible to downtown.
If you are looking for a venue in Houston that feels both historic and 'super chic' for your wedding day prep or an intimate event, this is it!
Amazing hotel for its refinement
Details are there: from the small flower bouquet to the bathroom tiles (in the lobby) to the white simple but beautiful napkins and yet nothing is overly fussy. The rooms are a very successful melange of modernity and understated luxury with an accent on small details which reflect true elegance
The food was again simple but made with care and quality ingredients. Possibly today, the best nicoise salad I have had in a very long time.
From Dubai to Paris, London to Toronto, I’ve experienced my fair share of luxury hotels.. but this one exceeds them all. Every detail reflects excellence: courteous staff, impeccable service and an atmosphere that feels effortlessly like home.
The rooms are pristine and updated, and the valet team sets the tone from the moment you arrive. Pure class.
