Care was good, staff professional and compassionate. One thing that frustrated me was it took along time some nights to get support to take a shower.

Beyond my ER experience, the care on the intermediate care unit, at least with the nurses, was so much better. Unfortunately, I had no orders for my daily meds, let alone meds I needed for pain management & nausea. I literally had to take my own daily meds I happened to bring with me on the 1st night. Completely ridiculous. It took hours for my nurse to even get the orders for IV fluids let alone the meds I needed. I did not sleep at all that night. I was exhausted & absolutely terrified about my ER experience & that my blood pressure was outrageously high & I was still tachycardic. The next day I had a consult with a colo-rectal surgeon who ordered another CT with drinkable contrast. I finally got the contrast to drink, was given Zofran to help with the nausea but then it took more than 3 hours from the time I finished drinking the contrast for someone to come get me for the scan. All that time trying to hold in the contrast because supposedly they only had one patient transporter for radiology that day. Not MY problem!! That was ridiculous. Finally had my regular med orders for the 2nd night so that was a relief. I have nothing negative to say about the care I received by my nurses on this floor. They were very attentive and caring. It was my ER experience that makes me hope & pray that I never have to return to this hospital.

I really enjoyed my short visit at HCA. Other than having trouble finding the location on Google Maps and detoured parking due to North Tower lot was full, everyone was cordial. The procedure was smooth.

My first grandson was born yesterday at HCA Clear Lake. The nurses in Labor and Delivery are angels. With this being my daughters first baby, she was very scared, and every single nurse she encountered showed true compassion, patience and kindness. There are so many nurses we would like to recognize, but Emily who was With her when she started going into labor and all the way through was someone we will never forget and we sincerely thank her for everything. Thank you, HCA Clearlake, labor and delivery for creating such a beautiful and memorable experience for our family.

The nurses and doctors were top notch, with the exception of one doctor who did not speak good English, making it hard to understand. After finally realizing what was being conveyed, we felt we were being pressured to have an invasive procedure instead of having an MRI first and then determine what plan of action to take.
I would like to reiterate that our nursing staff was excellent! They made us feel like family!

This would have been a 4 star experience except for ICU reception. One of my family members was brought into the ER on Friday July 24th in the morning where he was transferred to the ICU that afternoon. He was able to receive excellent care through the weekend from the ER medical team, trauma medical team, and ICU medical team. The ICU room is big and spacious accommodating all his equipment needs and our family. We had a positive experience until the ICU receptionist. On July 28th, we came to the ICU per our “new norm” only the receptionist changed the guidelines and decided she was no longer going to let us in to see our family member. This denied me the opportunity to speak with the medical team and help make the necessary decisions (I have PoA and mPoA). When you have a loved one in the icu, this is the place to find kindness, calmness, and integrity from hospital employees and staff while your family is going through trauma and crisis. Instead the hospital has employs people who lack empathy and compassion. The receptionist’s harsh, abrasive, and crass tone, choice of words, and actions demonstrates her insecurities seemingly stemming from her ineptitudes. When I told her I’d wait for the charge nurse to let us in, she threw things off her table and stormed away into the icu (where we were still being denied). She created all this melodrama fully knowing there is a hospital camera above her head. After throwing her tantrum, she came back later with the security guard where she was rudely and childishly gossiping about me as if I couldn’t hear them. She was being loud and disruptive in a space where it needs to be calm, peaceful, and inviting. She seemingly makes up her own rules picking and choosing which ones to enforce how and when. While waiting about an hour for the charge nurse and icu director to come let me in, I was stuck witnessing her interrogate some icu visitors, allow some icu visitors to look at her list of patients to “find” their loved one, and decide with some icu visitors who she was going to let in with food and who she was going to deny. She is a non-medical power hungry employee looking for obedience instead of respectfully adjusting according to the needs of the patients’ families. She guards the icu entrance/exit forcing you to interact. She heavily contributed to the trauma of an already traumatic circumstance, and it is upsetting that a hospital would employ this type of skill set. She has no business interacting with patients or their families. When Bridgette, the director, finally came out to let me in she tried to make excuses for her behavior which indicates that this is approved hospital behavior. If you have to go through icu and experience this, I would recommend either (a) tell the receptionist to call the Director every 5 minutes until she comes out, (b) walk in on either side whenever a door opens. It makes a loop so you can go in either side, (c) look at her list of patients/room numbers that she does not secure and chose one, or (d) go through the back stairs where all the construction workers come through the icu. They cannot deny you access to your family.

I want to recognize Dr. Alva for the excellent care they provided to my 4-month-old son.
My baby was initially seen in the emergency department for a fever and was discharged with a diagnosis of a viral illness. When his fever continued for two more days and he developed chills, I brought him back to the ER. Dr. Maria Alva carefully evaluated him, ordered a urine test and urine culture, and diagnosed him with a urinary tract infection. Thanks to their thorough assessment, my son received the treatment he needed.
As a parent, I truly appreciated that Dr. Alva listened to my concerns, took the time to investigate further, and did not dismiss my baby’s persistent symptoms. Their professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail made a very stressful situation much easier. I am very grateful for the excellent care they provided.

The experience that I had at HCA was great. The parking was easy, the directions to get to the testing are were easy and the checkin was quick. The nurse was informative and took me back to the testing area and explained everythng that was going to happen.
