An amazing research-intensive urban university with a number of PhD programs, top-notch research faculty, and many honorable and fair practices, like scholarships for people of all ages and from all socio-economic backgrounds, or the highest graduate student salaries and adjunct salaries in the country. Also, Rutger-Newark is often number one in terms of student diversity nationally. If you care about both academics and fairness, this should be your campus. Fairness does come with some rules and bureaucracy that ensures them, so patience with paperwork and administrative tasks is important. But the outcomes, the quality of education and the excellence of scholarship compensates for it.

As a someone looking for a good school, do not come here. Admissions is a joke. Financial Aid has no one reliable. No one is here to help you. Their One Stop gives bad information. Save your time and money and go somewhere else.

I was going to try and enroll and coming from another school I wanted to know what was my process. I called the school and the first person I spoke to said I needed to reach out to another department which he gave me the number to. I tried to call twice and when finally someone answered I was told I would need to email for any questions I had. I then emailed and it took a day for someone to get back to me. I asked in the email if someone could’ve reached out to me, to please call me to help direct me as I am older and still new to college but that was not even possible for them to do. I’ll be trying to go to another school that actually takes the time out to guide new students who don’t know where to start and help them get to where they need to be!
