My daughter was very serious about attending NYU, however unfortunately we can't. Their "promise" of free tuition for anyone earning under $100k is very misleading. My children and I have lived under the poverty level for 11 years after my spouse's passing. Some years are better than others, so I was able to save some money, but because of those savings they didn't live up to their "promise". Mind you it's very little savings. I'm almost 60 years old with very little prospect of making more money but NYU does not care. In order to live up ton their "promise", not only do you have to make under $100k, but you also have to be irresponsible with your money and not have any savings. Additionally, they do not allow any way to explain your situation as other schools do. I believe their "promise" is just a way to increase their yield. It's unfortunate, because my daughter very much wanted to go to school here. She was even accepted into their honors program.
