I had my air filter checked by Toyota as a complimentery service when my gas door broke and they found the filter stuffed with a black sponge that was cut to fit. The Toyota technician was shocked and said he had never seen anything like it. I had my air filter changed at this Kwik Kar Lube a few months prior. Since changing my filter to proper one, a musky smell is now gone.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Not going here again.

Good afternoon ma'am. We apologize for any confusion. The cabin air filter you speak of isn't just a piece of foam. They are Hepa cabin air filters that come perforated to fit many vehicles. Hepa filters are designed to catch more pollen and other debris better than traditional filters making the air inside better for breathing. In relation to any musty smell, it has been an extremely hot summer thus far which will cause air conditioning systems to work harder and sweat more than usual causing those smells. It's a simple fix for that which would be just changing the filter such as you did. We're sorry you feel the way you do and if you care to obtain more information on the filters just give us a call or stop by.

If ignoring customers were a skill, this place would be world-class. Sleep well tonight, Thomas. When you wake up tomorrow, you’ll be a whole $18.50 richer. Not bad for charging people twice and calling it “the law.” Hopefully that pocket change helps buy the professionalism and honesty that were clearly out of stock at your shop.
I am a business owner myself, and I understand it’s not easy running a business, but Thomas (owner/manager) is extremely rude and unprofessional. His behavior comes across as uneducated and arrogant, and his attitude is completely out of place for an auto shop.
I’ve been getting state inspections since I was 16 and somehow managed to avoid being charged the state fee twice—until I came here. Apparently, this shop has discovered a new version of the law that only applies when Thomas feels like it.
When we asked why we were charged twice, Thomas kindly explained that “the customer should know everything” and that it’s not his job to explain charges. Amazing customer service philosophy. He then confidently told us to call DPS because “it’s the law.” I did. Spoiler alert: it’s not.
Instead of correcting the mistake, he doubled down with attitude and arrogance. If condescension were a mechanic skill, this place would be master-certified.
Between the creative pricing, misinformation, and disrespectful behavior, this shop offers a masterclass in how not to run a business. If you enjoy being talked down to while being overcharged, this is your place. Otherwise, drive right past it.
Apparently customer service here depends on your skin color and how fancy your car is. If you don’t meet their standards, expect attitude and extra charges. An auto shop lives and dies by trust and communication, and this place has neither.

We here at Kwik would like to take the opportunity to address this review. Not so much to the customer but more for the reader as dealing with this customer was a lost cause before it ever started. We do thousands of inspections every year and it's extremely repetitive. Either a customer passes and we say have a nice day or they fail and we review the next steps to be taken for that customer. In this case the customer failed and we determined with them that a battery issue was their cause. We then explained to them that they would need to drive the vehicle for roughly 100 miles to get their computer in a ready state. Very common issue. They were then explained that the state offers 1 free reinspection within 15 days of the original inspection date and after that there would be another charge. This customer left the shop for several hrs. Came back and the state computer determined that they only drove for 12 miles. Not the 100 they were told. Due to this their computer was still not ready and the state computer immediately failed the vehicle for a second time. Something we have no control over. We then informed them again to drive the vehicle for roughly 100 miles and that 12 miles is not enough. There is no way around this as this is how vehicle computers are programmed and designed to function. They came back a third time having finally followed instructions and it passed. But the state did charge again. Instantly this customer became combative with our employee at the counter. Very poor conduct. A manager tried to step in and it was fruitless. Couldn't get a word out. Heavy interruption and this customer doing all they could to speak over. It's impossible to find a resolution in this manor. We don't get to do inspections at no cost to us. The state bills us monthly to do them. This is not free money to us or any other shop that does inspections. The state also mandates laws, rules and guidelines we must follow and we are an honest shop that does the honest thing. Some people just can't be reached and we understand that and are okay with that. This was really a "small potato" issue that coulda been handled differently if we woulda had a better encounter ourselves with this customer. Moving on, in this review this customer has tried to insinuate some form of racism on our part which is grossly absurd! If people took the time to thoroughly read our reviews people would find many of people from all walks of life satisfied with our service. We serve/ employ all people from all backgrounds. We are only interested in good people period. We find that insinuation to be weak. Extremely low in character and a shame they ought be embarrassed by even trying to go there over something so small. We ask for those reading this to look at all of our reviews. See who we really are and understand some bad reviews are not always deserved. Thanks for your time in reading this very long response but we felt the need to lay it entirely out. We thank those who support us and we are always here. For all people who need us.
