The sadness to all of this is PAM is a corporate entity, so anything you put here makes no difference as they will continue to dish out poor service and still not care about you the patient. Sad but true. They expect two aides to service a full floor of patients while the Nurses do little but sit and watch there phones and hand out medication. Aside for the exceptional few that work their butt's off, majority fail to even be called Nurses in this place. If your here for a few days of rehab, then not too bad. If any "real" nursing is need, I wouldn't send my worst enemy here as it won't happen. Good luck....
To add more pain to this review. After 7 months they now send a additional bill. The charges for therapy are absorbent. Go to a place like Select Physical Therapy for better service and half the price. At least they won't be leaving you to die alone....

We had an extremely disappointing experience at the main PAM Clear Lake Hospital for my mom. I would not recommend PAM to patients or family members considering PAM for a family member. The day we checked her in, we had to wait an hour past the time we were told to be there for her to be assigned to a room, and then we had to wait another 20-30 minutes for nursing staff to come to her room.

I had to be at the hospital every day, and sometimes multiple times a day, in person and through phone calls, advocating for my mom. She was better off at her assisted living than she was at PAM. Her mobility is worse now than it was before she went to PAM.

For the first week of her two-week visit, she was kept in the hospital bed for the majority of the day, except for the couple of hours per day that she received therapy. It was only after much complaining with multiple people, including nursing staff and hospital administration, that they would assist her in getting into a chair for meals.

The nursing staff, for the most part, was unfriendly, and very slow to respond. Anytime I asked a question or asked for assistance with my mom, it felt like an inconvenience. The doctors assigned to my mom were impossible to get ahold of unless you sat there all day waiting on them to pop in for 1-2 minutes. They always seemed in a rush and were not open to questions.

The therapy staff was nice for the most part, especially one in particular in Physical Therapy and the two therapists in Occupational Therapy, who helped get my mom showers as part of the OT sessions.

Overall, I definitely would not recommend PAM, especially for patients with dementia who can't adequately advocate for themselves. If you do have a loved one there, plan on being present every day for the majority of the day, demanding that your loved one receive the care he or she deserves.

Mom is here after suffering from a major stroke.

The nurse and nurse assistants are terrible. My mom is not able to change herself and when we ask them to help change my mom, they take over 2 hours and have an attitude every single time.

My mom is also not fully able to feed herself and if none of use are there, they just leave the patient with the tray in front of them thinking they can eat on their own. Walked in and my mom had food all over herself crying because no one was helping her.

Absolute horrible nursing staff. Do not recommend this place at all and very unprofessional.

Update: at the time of this posting nearly 2 weeks later, no one has returned my calls as I had left messages for the number they asked me to call, Ryan I think, from the reply posted after my message. I also haven’t heard from messages to Melissa, quality control at the rehabilitation Hospital, or the CEO both of whom I left messages for. The doctor that didn’t prescribe all the medication that was going to follow up. Never followed up and never prescribed the medication he said he was going to do. Overall, follow up on legitimate concerns has been not existent.

If I could give this facility zero stars, I would.

This was my mother’s second stay at PAM South following her hip replacement, and unfortunately, the experience was even more disappointing than the first. While the therapy staff did an excellent job when they actually worked with her, the overall communication, coordination, and patient care were unacceptable.

The primary reason for an inpatient rehabilitation stay is to receive intensive therapy. Instead, my mother spent the majority of her time sitting alone in her room. From Friday through Sunday, she received only about two hours of therapy total. To make matters worse, her case manager scheduled an off-campus physician appointment but failed to communicate it with the therapy department. Therapy was scheduled at the exact same time as her appointment, creating a conflict that should never have happened.

Despite receiving such limited therapy, staff wanted to extend her stay by another two weeks. It is difficult to justify extending an inpatient rehabilitation stay when the patient is not consistently receiving the therapy that is the entire purpose of being there.

There were also significant concerns regarding nursing care and responsiveness. My mother had difficulty seeing the standard call button, and it was only after I repeatedly insisted that she was provided with a larger, soft-touch call button. Even then, when she pressed it to request medication, someone simply turned the call light off without ever responding. More than 20 minutes passed before I had to walk to the front desk and request the charge nurse myself.

Today, on what should have been one of her final opportunities to continue progressing, she was scheduled for even less therapy. I was then informed that she would receive no therapy at all on her final day before discharge. Instead, she was required to remain in the hospital overnight solely to be discharged the following morning. I spoke with the therapy scheduler at 7:41 a.m. and specifically requested that a message be sent to both the case manager and the administrator because I wanted to discuss these concerns before discharge. After hearing nothing all day, I called again around 4:22 p.m. and was sent directly to voicemail. No one returned my call.

From a family’s perspective, this gives the appearance that another day is being billed to insurance while the patient receives no therapeutic benefit. Whether or not that is the intent, it is certainly how the situation appears when a patient is kept overnight without therapy and leadership is unavailable to address legitimate concerns.

The lack of communication between departments, poor coordination of care, delayed responses to patient needs, and inability to reach leadership demonstrate systemic issues that need immediate attention. Patients and their families deserve better.

I want to be clear that the therapists themselves were professional, compassionate, and effective. They were the bright spot of this experience. Unfortunately, the administrative failures surrounding their work overshadowed the quality of therapy my mother received.

I sincerely hope the Administrator or CEO will contact me before my mother leaves. Families place their trust in this facility during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Based on our experience, that trust was not earned.

Please read all of the 1 star reviews! They almost killed my wife that is paralyzed and unable to regulate they body temperature or get her self out of bed with out a hoyer lift they confined her to a room with no air conditioning lighting hit ac unit night before lift her sleeping on a hollyer sling. All night long. That will cause bed sores .refused to take her to a room with ac 1 floor had ac and the lobby also refused to give her long acting insulin although they been giving it to her for the past week and she a type1 on insulin for 40 years also get her a sleep med the doctor had stopped because she becomes unresponsive they gave it to her a then had to call 911 to pick her up thaking 2 hospital admitted into ICU right away under dehydration
Heat stroke D.K. A. And unresponsive, if I had not showed up at the hospital, she would have laid there and been dead i would not recommend this location whatsoever. And if you do go there, I will watch the care of my loved one. I have placed my own personal camera in the room to see exactly what goes on there. Their internal investigation was a friggin' joke. First of all, they never talked to my wife and got her story. I personally showed the investigator a picture of my wife sleeping on the Hoyer sling and some of the videotapes that I had taken. Then, they sent a letter denied everything. Although we have pictures and videotapes of charge, nurses admitting to the a c going out, the nurse on duty admitted that she had stayed on a hoyer sling. All night long that she had pulled out.We also have pictures of that. And I have a video recording in the whole conversation since I was in there they also had a nurse with her personal cellphone videotaping, the whole time i was there because i was pissed at the condition of my wife that I also got video of her recording me which i'm sure is against hippa Violations the nurses they had on over this holiday weekend were unqualified to take care of a quadriplegic. Didn't know the proper. There's this methods of lifting a patient out of bed with a hoyer. Sling they almost dropped my wife. According to my son, that was standing there and told the nurse to stop before she dropped her. I will be willing to post any and all correspondence between myself and pam if anyone is interesting. I've also contacted the news and attorneys over all this and the Department of Health

My mom’s nurse, AHMED , would come in, hand her a cocktail of medications, and rush right back out. Honestly, I’ve had servers at restaurants spend more time taking my order than this nurse spent with my mom. There was no compassion, no checking in, and no effort to make us feel like she cared. The whole experience felt rushed and uncaring, and it was really disappointing. On the bright side, the THERAPY TEAM WAS GREAT and took excellent care of my mom.

I do NOT recommend this clinic.

I was referred to this clinic by my ENT specialist for vestibular rehabilitation therapy. Before scheduling my first appointment, I called the clinic specifically to verify my insurance coverage and was clearly told that my out-of-pocket cost would be $0. Based on that information, I scheduled an appointment.

When I arrived for my first visit, I asked again to confirm that I would not owe anything, and I was reassured that there would be no charge. Relying on that information, I completed the evaluation session and was scheduled for seven additional visits.

I only attended one follow-up session because most of the balance exercises could easily be performed at home, and I canceled the remaining appointments.

To my surprise, I later received a bill for $369 for the visits. I contacted the clinic and explained that this was not what I had been told before scheduling or attending treatment. I requested that they review the phone call, if it was recorded, to verify what I had been told regarding the cost. However, they never investigated the issue or provided any meaningful explanation.

Instead, they continue to send payment demands for charges that I would never have agreed to had I been given accurate information from the beginning.

Patients deserve transparency regarding insurance coverage and financial responsibility before receiving treatment. My experience was extremely disappointing

I would not recommend this facility for any inpatient or overnight stays—especially not for a loved one. Their outpatient physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT) day services are great, but that’s where my positive comments end.

I stayed here for five nights after leaving the hospital, and the contrast between day and night here is stark. During daytime hours, the place appears well-run and professional, which likely explains some of the glowing reviews. However, after shift change, the environment changes dramatically. Calls for help and yelling from patients become constant. Pressing the call button routinely resulted in waits of over an hour, often two, before anyone responded. More than once, staff simply entered to silence the light and say, “Someone will be here shortly,” with no follow-through.

On the day before discharge, blood was drawn for lab tests. After I returned home, I received a notification with results that were clearly incorrect and almost certainly not mine. I immediately called and spoke with the charge nurse, Shay, who assured me she would investigate, contact the lab, and call me back. She never did.

This incident is unfortunately typical of the nursing care here: disorganized, unresponsive, and unreliable. The facility has the potential to do much better, but it appears profit takes priority over proper staffing and patient safety, especially during the night.

*** I sure hope I was not being gaslit yesterday. As any reassurance I was given was proven to be false. **

The website states a goal for Parkinsons patients is to maintain productive lives. Recently a Physical Therapist told a Parkinsons patient that she has too many up and down days. What an incompetent statement from someone who clearly does not know the ups and downs of this disease. This facility seems to pride themselves on "encouragement and compassion" but making a patient cry multiple times is neither! I am specifically speaking about out patient PTs, but in my eyes it is a reflection on the entire facility. Please do better as people need and rely on therapy.
