John Henneman Local Guide

I brought my Model Y Performance to EVS Motorsports because I had heard great things about their shop, and I was willing to drive two hours in heavy traffic just to have them do the work. The actual service and mechanical work performed on the vehicle seem great so far, and the initial communication was decent. However, my experience was completely derailed by their billing practices and confusing estimates.
The final amount I paid did not match the last estimate we agreed upon. During our email exchanges, there was a bizarre miscommunication where the shop assumed I was providing my own Sportline camber kit. I never once said I would provide the kit. Their own email stated: *"I just sent an official quote to your email with pricing for the camber kit, tires and the necessary installation costs and alignment for your review."* My understanding was that the price we agreed to included the kit itself, not that it would be tacked on as a separate line item later.
What’s worse are the excessive labor charges. I was charged $665 in labor alone. Installing a rear camber kit on a Model Y should take 0.5 to 1 shop hour maximum, and a standard alignment takes about 1 hour. Most egregiously, they wanted to charge me a separate $180 fee just to "adjust" the camber ki, if I installed it. Adjusting camber, caster, and toe is the entire point of an alignment—which I was already paying for as a separate line item! Double-charging to adjust a part during a paid alignment is unacceptable.
This camber kit is a very straightforward install. Had I known they were going to charge over $400 just for the installation, I would have easily bought and installed the kit myself in my garage, then taken it to any local shop for a standard alignment.
The mechanical work is solid, but the messy communication and bloated labor fees left a bad taste in my mouth. Make sure you scrutinize every single line item before handing over your keys.
