The room was very nice, except the bed mattress needs an update. No microwave in my room, you have to use the shared one in the lobby. Very inconvenient for a 4 star hotel. Free parking available and they do provide valet parking too. Shower was great and water pressure. If you're looking to spend time shopping at the Galleria then you'll love it.

We stayed at this hotel in mid April during a two night stay in Houston from NYC to visit friends and family . We booked the Traditional Room, 1 King Bed with Sofa Bed in late January through American Express travel and received a $100 statement credit as part of the American Express platinum benefits. The total cost of the room for two nights was $650 (not including statement credit).

I typically like to stay in Galleria area when I travel to houston as it is in a good central locations for my friends who are inside the loop and family who are in the outer suburbs. This hotel is attached and accessible through the Houston Galleria Mall. There can be a lot of traffic in the area, but there is also a lot access by foot through the mall including dining options. This hotel is on a less busy street than the Westin Oaks and I found parking to much easier at the adjacent/attached garage.

When we arrived around noon, our room was ready for us. I am a Marriott Lifetime Platinum member and since we booked the room through American Express Travel, we were given a physical paper welcome card explaining all of our benefits. These benefits included free daily breakfast, an upgrade (when possible), $100 property credit, as well as no additional fee for early check-in or late check-out. This welcome card (attached to this review) specifically states “Complimentary breakfast for two” with one bullet stating “Club Lounge on the 24th floor Mon - Fri from 630am - 930am” and the second bullet “Daily Grill Restaurant from 630am - 11am breakfast voucher provided by the front office team”.

When my husband went on Monday morning to get the breakfast voucher to the Daily Grill Restaurant at 830am, he was told by the lobby manager that those vouchers were only available on the weekend. When my husband showed her what was stated on the card, she dismissed the error but stated she would make an exception. What exception?? This was a clear error on their part. Why couldn’t they have just apologized for the confusion and immediately corrected the situation? To hand out a card with multiple errors for your preferred guests is telling.

Otherwise, everyone at the hotel was very nice. I really appreciated all of the water bottle refill stations. The room was spacious with a very uncomfortable pleather couch. We were also upgraded to a club level room. The club is closed on the weekends. While the club is one of the nicest I’ve seen at Westin in the United States, there didn’t seem to be a lot of offerings except for breakfast. The club lounge did have several beverage options. The gym on the property was also very nice and next to the club lounge. WiFi worked fast and consistently throughout the hotel. You do need to tap a room key to get up the elevator.

Overall this hotel is nothing special but is fine for the price and location. I would like come back and recommend for a similar type trip.

We had to SmartStay for NCA Nationals with this hotel. Our flight arrived at 6:45am and we were so exhausted so we decided to just stop by and see if any rooms were open. The guy at the front desk was very compassionate to our situation and moved some things around so we could check in early. He literally walked up to the room himself to make sure everything was ready. This kindness and hospitality was endless with him! The lady doing the breakfast was like the mother of the crew, making sure our children were taken care of! This staff went above and beyond (imo) for our family and it was exactly what we needed!
The rooms were quite small and shower water was lukewarm at best but quickly overlooked due to the phenomenal staff!

I just wrapped up a week long stay here, so it's time to give my thoughts. I'll try to keep it fairly short and concise.

The good: The staff were all excellent. Everybody I interacted with was very friendly. The breakfast was good, but nothing to write home about. It was pretty much what you'd expect for a hotel breakfast. The bed was somewhat comfortable, but I'm an edge case. I get lower back pain on soft beds and found the couch to be more comfortable some nights. They have the usual proprietary TV box garbage, but because of the way the TV is mounted, it's extremely easy to unplug the HDMI cable and hook up your own entertainment. There's LOTS of outlets to plug in your devices, so you don't ever feel like you need a power strip to charge all of your devices. The room was definitely laid out with modern travelers in mind.

The bad: During hotter months (I'm writing this in late June) the hallways on floors 2-4 are HOT. Depending on the time of day the hallways will actually be hotter than it is outside. Most of the time they were around 85 degrees. The kitchen faucet in my room only got up to luke warm. Apparently that should not have been the case so maybe the next time I'm there that won't be a problem. The electric stove is basically what you'd find in a small RV. It takes forever to boil water (10 minutes for 2 packs of ramen, 25 minutes for a large pot of spaghetti). I was told that this is due to various regulations, but I've stayed at other Marriott family hotels in the Houston area where the stove had considerably more power.

The weird...: This is more of a nitpick and doesn't factor into my rating. Who the heck thought a shower with no door was a good idea? Instead there's a glass panel that covers about ⅔ of it with a wide opening on the far end. Made for a nice, wet, SLIPPERY floor right in front of the shower. Also, the shower knob is on the end where you get in, instead of under the shower head. I think that's a great idea myself as you don't get sprayed with cold water while turning on the shower, but a couple people I mentioned it to thought it was weirder than the shower being partially open.

Would I stay here again? Definitely. There's not a whole lot to do in the area, but that's fine with me as my vacations are to get away from everyone and have some time to myself.

Overall the place is nice and convenient, my only problem was with the beda dn pillows. Very uncomfortable the first night and just got used to it the second night. Would I stay here again probably for the price and what you get is pretty good. Just wish the bed and pillows were a bit more comfortable.

The rooms were ok, except the roach issue. They rent out rooms as apartments, so some people are not as clean. But the overall experience is great. The staff is great as well. Great location by everything.
