It took me this long to give this review because I was very devasteted when it happened. My check in was on 5/2025(Friday) for two rooms. We were there for three days. On the next day Saturday,we went out that morning for a Church conference and we came back around 3pm. I stopped by at the help desk to talk to the front desk manager. I believed his name was Matthew Selby. I reported to him that I was charged a deposit which I was told there was no deposit when I ordered online . He told me there is a depost. I asked him then why was I lied to online that there was no deposit. He told me he didn't know . I then went to my room and rested until about 5pm. I got up got ready for another session of the conference. I and my Church member whom we rode together then went to where we park our car but our car was no where to be found. We reported it to the manager, I believed his name was Matthew Selby, he immediately told us , you came for a Church conference that we should forgive the person who stole the car because God forgive all sins. I believe this manager, Matthew Selby arranged with people to steal our car. It looks like he has done these to several customers especially irate customers.

Increase Glory,
Thank you so much for your review. We feel terrible that your stay was less than perfect. Please don't hesitate to reach out and give us some more information about your stay, so we can do better next time. I deeply regret any miscommunication about our policies. It is correct that there is "no deposit required" when you book directly, but also that refers to pre-payments for the room. We require a $150 refundable incidental hold per reservation, which goes back at checkout. Incidentals is anything aside from room rent, like damages or sundry shop items.

It has been a long time, but if I recall correctly you were yelling in the lobby in front of other guests and threatening to punch me in the face. The General Manager did get you security camera footage as you requested, but was unable to do so on the day you requested because he was out of the office. Your claim that some kind of criminal collusion occurred between the management of the hotel and people stealing cars in Westchase is both unsupported by all of the guest feedback we receive on Google Maps and other websites, as well as being unnecessarily inflammatory. You can contact me directly at [email protected] or 832-617-8048. We use feedback from our guests, like yours, in order to improve our positive guest experiences.

Matthew Selby
Front Office Manager
[email protected]
I wish I could share a review. But, the hotel cancelled our reservation and did enjoy notify us or Expedia (through whom we booked). I luckily called them a couple days ahead and found out that our reservation was cancelled. Their reasoning was that our card bounced. Ok.
My brother was traveling at the same time who had made a separate reservation. The same with them as well.
I highly doubt that two separate reservations were cancelled without notifications for credit card issues. At that point, the issue is with the hotel's staff or process.
When we called to rectify the issue, they talked to us the first time, passed us off to a voicemail box. We called again, the same lady picked up but pretended to be somebody else and despite us asking to speak with the manager, pushed us to voicemail box, and then stopped picking up calls from our numbers. Done with IHG and Holiday Inn at this point. I will stick to my 15 years of Bonvoy membership.
The location and the rooms may be good, but this hotel's front desk staff and service get 0 from me (negative if possible).

The location was convenient, but I was very disappointed with how this was handled. After I checked out, an additional $25 accommodation charge was added to my bill without my knowledge or consent. When I contacted corporate customer service, they claimed I had agreed to the charge during checkout, which is simply not true. I asked the property to explain the charge and never received a response.Charging guests after checkout and then claiming they agreed to it is unacceptable. I expected better transparency and customer service.

Bought items at the front desk on credit card. They told me there was a problem with the transaction and to swipe again. I did. I was charged twice (not pending charges) and a manager is never available when I call. Opened a request with IHG and have not received any response.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We sincerely apologize for the frustration and inconvenience you've experienced with the duplicate credit card charge and the difficulty reaching a manager. This is not the level of service we strive to provide. We understand how concerning billing issues can be, and we're sorry for the lack of timely follow-up. Please contact the hotel directly and ask to speak with the General Manager, or email us with your contact information and the date of your purchase so we can investigate the transaction and work toward a resolution as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and the opportunity to make this right.

The facilities of this hotel are nice and generally very clean however that is not my issue. My issue is with one of the managers, Matthew. This is the second year where my company has paid for a room at this hotel and I have been unable to smoothly and easily check in due to miscommunication that there needed to be a credit card authorization. Last year this was not mentioned and I simply paid and got reimbursed, however the repetition of this situation is frustrating. As a result the online payment completed by my company was invalid for the second year in a row. I was told that my company did not authorize this, however they were never told this was a necessary part of the payment process. After paying, getting items from my car, and returning to the lobby, Matthew continued to discuss my situation in lieu of other customers checking in and the problem being resolved. This demeanor and behavior is seriously unprofessional and unpleasant and led to a stressful check in when all I wanted was to check in after a long day of traveling.

I understand that hotels host private events, but paying guests should not feel unwelcome, displaced, or ignored because of them. This experience fell far below the standard of customer service I expected, and I hope management takes steps to ensure future guests are treated with more respect and consideration. But not allowing check-ins and ordering customers to leave because they are wanting to get a/c is absolutely ridiculous.

What a terrible experience, I had to create a gmail account just to leave a review! I arrived with my wife and daughter and met with the receptionist Nicole. She reeked of marijuana. It was so strong I told my wife and daughter to wait on the other side of the lobby. I couldn’t believe it.
She must’ve noticed I sent my wife and daughter away because she clearly felt some type of way about it. She was extremely rude and kept rolling her eyes. It should have been such a simple check in experience but Nicole made it miserable. Literally one of my worst experiences I’ve had at any business ever.
I can’t believe a place like this employs that type of employee. The smell of weed alone should’ve prompted a manager to send her home for the day. I honestly think she must’ve been smoking at the desk! Isn’t weed supposed to make people chill and not the opposite?
This is the type of behavior I would expect at an Oyo hotel and not a holiday inn.
Stay away from this place! The location also sucks and is in a sketchy area.
It appears google took down my previous review so I edited it

TRY TO AVOID THIS HOTEL if possible.
We only stayed here because we came into town last minute and had to settle since most of the better hotels were already booked, and unfortunately, it showed why this place had availability.
Let’s start with the location. While getting gas across the street, we were immediately approached and hassled by someone trying to sell us a CD. That pretty much set the tone. It’s not in the best or safest-feeling area, especially if you’re traveling with family and smaller kids.
As for the hotel itself, it’s clearly older. I understand not every place is going to be luxury, especially for a 2–3 star hotel, but basic cleanliness and upkeep should still be expected.
When we got to our first room, we noticed a bug near the air conditioning unit. Not ideal, but it got worse. When we pulled out the sofa bed for our child, the mattress was EXTREMELY stained; completely unacceptable. At that point, we had to go back to the front desk and request a new room.
To their credit, the front desk staff did switch us to another room, which was better, but by then, the experience was already off to a bad start.
In addition, our kid had an accidental nosebleed overnight due to allergies and stained one of the sheets. No problem- accidents happen, and we were fully prepared to cover the cost. However, we were charged $60 for a stained sheet, which felt excessive and unnecessary. Especially since they couldn’t even clean away a dead visible bug before a guest checked in, but this is the charge for a stained fabric? The manager I spoke with over the phone said that the property manager - Matthew Selby, said this was normal business procedures.
Now let’s talk value. We paid around $140 per night AND they require a $150 security deposit that takes 3–5 days to be returned. For what you get, this place feels like a complete money grab.
DO THIS FOLKS: For the same total amount they’re charging (room + deposit), you could easily book a 4-star hotel in the downtown or Galleria area and have a MUCH better experience, cleaner, safer, and actually worth your money. Even if a nicer hotel is not available, try a Hampton Inn in this city, they are usually WAY better for the same rate (if not less) than this hotel.
Overall, this place is not worth it. Save yourself the trouble and book somewhere else.

We abide by our IHG Clean Promise, available to view on IHG.com, which means that if your room is not clean, it is our job to make it right! Beware incidental fee is higher than the actual room cost. In my opinion the hotel was not even nice enough for a $150 incidental fee. Super unfortunate that that you’re unaware of the charge until you arrive especially without being able to cancel. The next day I found a MUCH NICER hotel Four Point Sheraton for only a $50 incidental fee. I will now be going there when I fly in for work.

I stayed at this location a few weeks ago. The room was decent I guess. No real issues with that. Location was terrible, don’t go out at night. You can hear gunshots and a lot of homeless people walking around right near the hotel.
Service sucked, after traveling all day and dealing with the very rude female at the desk was disappointing for a Holiday Inn.
Plus the police raided the place and took the rude female working the desk. Like really Holiday Inn? I expect that at other hotels but not a reputable brand such as Holiday Inn. How can we feel safe leaving our belongings in our room if the police are raiding the place to arrest the staff? I’m assuming it was for something serious with the amount of police they had come in there.
Very disappointed in Holiday Inn. Definitely won’t stay at this location again. I had a coworker stay at this location this past week (My company sends employees to this side of Houston frequently) and told him about our experience there, I described the female receptionist who was arrested and he told me she checked him in, so she’s still working there. Assuming it’s the same female that’s c
crazy! Stay somewhere else.
