It wasn’t the greatest but it wasn’t the worst either. As soon as we went in noticed the room had a funky smell, I noticed the bathroom didn’t have a fan nor a counter to place hygiene, make up ect. We had issues with the toilet as well. The room was very clean. I inspected the bed and the sheets were clean. Only thing that worried me was the mattress it had no bedbug protector. Who wants to carry bedbugs around ?? and the mattress was yellow. Definitely time for new mattresses. Lightbulbs in lamps are too dim. Loved the view.
Breakfast was good. Descent.

Booked this hotel because we needed to be close to the hospital. Staff is very friendly. Just as anyone else noticed - the free parking and breakfast are nice perks which are rare for the area. Rooms are smelly but clean. The caulking in the shower will need some maintenance. Trash was left all night by the elevator.
Disappointing Stay at Sure Stay Plus Best Western Houston
I recently stayed at the Sure Stay Plus Best Western Houston in the Medical Center, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The rooms were **horrible**—small, with peeling paint and dirty carpets. The bathrooms were tiny, and the tub didn't drain properly, making it quite unpleasant.
The breakfast options were very limited, consisting only of microwave meals, and the juice machine was out of order. The overall cleanliness of the hotel was lacking, and the service, while okay, couldn't make up for the numerous issues.
Security is a major concern here. In the past, my truck was broken into due to the lack of cameras and poor security in the parking lot. I've also heard of others having their catalytic converters stolen. The laundry facilities are inadequate, with only one working washing machine and dryers that don't dry clothes properly.
The only reason I continue to stay here is its proximity to the children's hospital across the street. Otherwise, I would definitely choose to stay somewhere else.

Do not stay here if you have any other option. I made the mistake of quickly booking here, thinking it would be an ok hotel because it was in the same price range as other hotels in the area. I was very wrong, this hotel has a sever mold problem. Read some of the other review that say the same thing. Our room reeked of mold and mildew. It was not a subtle smell but immediate and overpowering. My wife immediately started getting a headache from the mold. I immediately could feel my sinus pressure building from an allergic reaction to the mold. We could not stay here even one night. We left to another hotel a block down that was the same price but was actually really nice instead of a complete dump. I have stayed in plenty of cheap hotels in my life they are generally basic but fine. This hotel is by far not just the worst hotel, but the worst building I have ever been in. It should be condemned. And to top it off it is not even cheap.

Room smells like a gym full of sweaty men, very outdated. Please read the other 1 Star first before making a reservation. They are all accurate. I wish i read them but i didn't make the reservation. AC loud. Breakfast options very limited. The last night of my stay, at 3:45am i was woken up by somebody playing loud music and loud, repeated thud shaking my room. Was not sure where it came from. Seems like someone was working on something, using mechanical device. Not the hotel's fault but it shows what type of people stays here.

This is my third stay. The hotel is older, and does need and upgrade. However it's clean, safe, and the staff is very friendly. It's convenience to the Medical Center can't be overlooked. If you need a decent place to stay while getting treatment or visiting a patient, this is a solid choice if you understand that it is an older building and you won't be getting an exclusive resort experience. It's perfect for what it is and offers an array of rooms for different accessibility needs.
The front desk staff was very friendly, professional, and helpful. We were glad for the underground parking. The grab and go breakfast was very good.
The mattress in our second room was very soft, as if it was past its usefulness, and the rooms are somewhat dated. However, the rooms were safe and clean.
The proximity to Memorial Hermann was perfect for us, and we had good experiences with the shuttle driver.
Thank you for giving us a good place to stay at reasonable rates.
Have a blessed evening!
Can’t give the room 5 stars because you can tell it’s very dated and needs an upgrade. However, it was nicely spaced and comfortable for 5 people.
Although the employees were very kind, I highly disliked that the hotel didn’t offer any water for the guests. Best “solution” was to get water from the sink in the bathroom or purchase bottles from the vending machine.
Then, when wanting to use the pool at 11 am, it turns out it was closed because they had added chemicals to the water. One would assume that the hours the pool remains closed at night is when they would add those chemicals but 🤷🏻♀️
Other than that, the location was great and employees were very attentive.

We had a very lengthy stay here and experienced a whole array of service experiences. Upon check in, I was informed that city workers had hit a water line and shut down all water access to the neighborhood. Water was expected to be out potentially even until the next day. Certainly not the type of news you want to receive after a long travel day. While I know this wasn't the hotel's fault, there was no effort to partially comp the first night or even give customers reward points for the significant inconvenience. I thought it was the least hotel staff could do, especially for customers who booked for many nights. Nothing was extended to guests. I tried - was flat out denied. That left a pretty bad impression.
I'm also a Best Western rewards member and should have been given bottled water upon check in. Front desk didn't mention it - I had to ask directly and was then told there was no water to give. Strike 2.
Rooms are dark, dank and very old. But the one thing that this location offers is a separate living room which offers much more space than a regular hotel room. Free parking is a plus. Breakfast was modest. Staff members handed out the equivalent of Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches that you needed to microwave yourself. There's a breakfast waffle option, fruit, yogurt, breads. The breakfast area is quite large and easily seats 50 people spaciously so I considered that a plus as well.
Hallways are narrow and a bit smelly - the air quality needs improvement. It was often hot and humid in the hallways.
The thing that redeems this Best Western is location. It's a quick/easy walk to trains/buses and many food options nearby. The area is pretty safe with a lot of foot traffic because of the medical center.

This hotel is a must! Especially if you are an MD Anderson patient or family member with an MD Anderson patient. We really enjoyed our stay. Rooms are decent and comfortable. The front desk is always going above and beyond for their customers. Breakfast is free and enjoyable. Free parking. They do have a shuttle bus. They run on the hour. The hotel is safe, and we didn't ever have any issues.
