Herman Memorial I came here thinking the best would be the best for me and my situation. Brilliant doctors and staff but you all failed me. You forgot about patient care. You all got so wrapped up with the science and diagnosis the fixing of me you forgot that the human spirit is very fragile. I appreciate y'all tried to do but I must say country folk don't belong there. We don't fit in
You failed me my daughter and my son because your fancy degrees shiney tools and machines mean nothing when you have made someone feel they are nothing more than a bother. An extra human suffering in pain way hung dozens come and go while for 16 hours laid at the end of a small recliner my lab wouldn't even fit or want to be in. Everyone has a breaking point don't forget and you all broke me.i train medical service animals that maybe one day could have saved you or a family member. Now I just want to go home and let go. Call hospice if I need. It's not worth what I feel in that my spirit is not worth your hospitality. Thank you for trying I just don't fit in. I explained over and over my needs I was very clear what I would do if my needs were met. Simple put a small town who will keep me comfortable and out of pain might not be ideal and a road to death but at least my mind my soul my heart and my comfort is all in check and if I am to go I go gracefully and not by way ashamement and embarrassment. Don't forget us country people have big hearts we will do anything for anyone and while I do wanted to believe you all felt the same way at the end of 16 hours I no longer did. God bless you all. You save lives everyday just today it's not mine.

I went to the emergency room last night waited for five hours with no fluids no medicine or anything given to me. I am 10 weeks pregnant and when John the provider eventually spoke to me, he told me he was sorry that I “fell through the cracks” because it was so busy I have filed a former complaint against him and it will be going to the review board this is not acceptable for a 10 week pregnant woman to “slip through the cracks” and also be told that by a provider, John shame on you and I hope you get the consequences you deserve

I gave this place two stars because registration & intake was quick. Unfortunately the Physicians Assist Payal H. was extremely dismissive. I’ve been a nurse for over a decade (which I did not disclose) so for one I’m not quick to go to any ER/Doctor however I have had persistent symptoms for 5 days that I’ve never experienced. I have never witnessed this level of dismissiveness from a provider. Payal asked me which tests I felt I need, when I answered she proceeded to say that they don’t do any of those unless it’s a “real emergency”. I’ve worked in enough ERs to know that that’s simply not true. Her assessment was also subpar… listening to two spots on my back as I was speaking (what lung sounds are you hearing over the sound of my voice??). I inquired about other testing (nasal swabs) which she said they also don’t do in the ER (also not true, as this is one of the most basic tests in any ER). Lastly Payal told me to set up an appointment with my PCP for those tests. I questioned her on the fact that I would have to wait for an appointment and these symptoms have already been persistent for 5 days. She replied “yea, make an appointment” and abruptly walked out. I waited a few minutes because I wasn’t sure if she was coming back or not. When I checked with the ladies at the main nurses station they said yes, you’re dismissed. I was floored by the level of unprofessionalism & dismissiveness from a fellow healthcare provider.

My father was hospitalized with aspiration pneumonia and stayed for about four days. Before his hospitalization, he was receiving outpatient rehabilitation at TIRR. In order to resume therapy after discharge, TIRR required medical clearance from the hospital.

Throughout my father’s hospital stay, I repeatedly reminded the nurses that he would need clearance paperwork before discharge. Unfortunately, they made a mistake and provided rehabilitation referral orders instead of the required clearance letters.

After my father was discharged, I had to call the hospital myself to get this corrected. The discharge nurse initially told me they did not have such a form and that they “don’t do that.” This was frustrating because TIRR clearly required the clearance for my father to return to therapy. Eventually, after multiple calls, they corrected the mistake.

On Monday, I contacted TIRR and was told they had received the physical therapy and occupational therapy clearance letters, but the speech therapy clearance was still missing. I called the hospital again, but the discharge nurse was unavailable. I left a message, only to be told they weren’t sure when the nurse would return. Instead of helping resolve the issue, I was told they didn’t know how to complete the speech therapy clearance and suggested that my father see his primary care physician instead.

What made this even more frustrating was that no one else was willing to help. I was repeatedly told that there was no discharge nurse working that day and that all the other nurses could do was “pass along a message.” If the designated discharge nurse is unavailable, there should be another qualified staff member who can assist patients and families with discharge-related issues. Patients should not be left waiting simply because one specific person is out.

This response was extremely disappointing. It felt like the hospital was trying to shift responsibility to the PCP instead of correcting an error that occurred during my father’s discharge. If they were able to provide PT and OT clearance letters, I don’t understand why they couldn’t provide the speech therapy clearance as well.

Families caring for loved ones after hospitalization already have enough to manage. We should not have to spend days chasing paperwork that should have been completed correctly before discharge. This experience was very frustrating and reflected poor communication, lack of accountability, and unprofessional discharge planning. I hope the hospital improves its discharge process so other families do not have to go through the same experience.

My experience with this hospital during the birth of my daughter was disappointing. When we arrived for labor and delivery, my wife was taken to a room while I was told to wait. The staff member at the check-in desk had a dismissive attitude from the start, which was upsetting given the urgency of the situation.

I was left waiting while the check-in staff were on their phones and failed to call me back. It wasn’t until another nurse noticed and asked, “Oh, you haven’t been called in?” that I was finally allowed to join my wife. When the mistake was acknowledged, there was no apology—only a casual “my bad” said to the nurse, not to me.

This occurred around 2:00 a.m. on January 12, 2026. During such a critical and emotional moment, this lack of attention, communication, and empathy is unacceptable. I hope the hospital addresses this through better training, accountability, and clearer procedures so other families do not experience the same issue.

When I was hospitalized, They didn't give me my dinner til 7 or 8 pm while it sat right out side the room I was in. Then I was asked if I wanted it heated, well at this pointvI didn't even want to eat anymore. Another thing is when they know they are going to keep you til hours after the dr.has seen you, while your family member has been waiting all those hours to take you home to find out they had wasted all that time waited and they keep you. My family said they will never take me there again.

Great doctors and nurses there. Easy surgery, kind and understanding medical staff!

The billing process on the other hand is an absolute nightmare. They are so disorganized, no one has answers if they even answer the phone. No one in this hospital billing system communicates with each other on who has what information for insurance, whats due... etc. Waiting on them to fix an issue they sent to collections even though they already billed insurance and EOB came back $0 responsibility.
Make sure you stay on top of your claims, and be prepared to do their job for them 🙄

10/27/25. Cervical decompression/ fusion surgery. Dr. Barkoh always has his patients stay overnight to be observed etc. that's the bad part of this. The surgery went good. Then they dump you in an overnight room. Laying on big diaper and a jug clipped on railing of bed which is out of reach and very difficult to remove. The controls of bed are next to your head. No remote. The idea after that surgery is not to move your head specifically left or right. I was too far from wall where oxygen connects. Didn't know it but clear plastic hose came off the 02 feed and spewed pure oxygen into my room for at least an hour till nurse came in noticed it and tried un successfuly to fabricate an extension. Eventually she realized that it was not possible with the hose she rounded up somewhere so I was told I don't need oxygen any longer.
After 5 hours I got a pain pill. Now the doctor had prescribed me tizanidide and hydrocodone ahead of time so I would have it when I got home. I didn't realize you were supposed to bring it with you. They had nothing to give to me to relax. To help w anxiety, insomnia. Not a single medication available anywhere in this giant hospital to make me relax. Get some sleep. I tried the couch by the window ,with the help the guy checking on my vitals. He helped rearrange cushions. I tried the recliner but it was to close to the wall and the wheels were locked.. After one nurse asked me if a Xanax would help I said yes. ,5 mg of alprazolam would be great. Actually a bit earlier my Dr. Or nurse had visited me a bit before assuring me I would be given something to relax me a bit. Her name was Sam. Never saw her again. A cup came in with what looked like a xanex cut into 4 pieces. My wristband was never scanned after the delivery of that leading me to believe it came out of someone's pocket or purse in an effort to help me. A for effort.
No sleep that night. 9 hours after the first pain medication I received at 9 pm. I was given another at 6 AM. When my surgeon came by I pleaded w him for something to sedate me a bit. 48 hrs before surgery I had refrained from alcohol and tobacco which no doubt contributed to uneasy ness. He ordered some tizanidide which arrived after I was discharged I assume.
I realize that after surgery they may want you alert in case a complication emerged but I tell you for a brief moment I wished that my room had filled with pure oxygen because of that hose coming off the barb, I would have welcomed being blown to bits out of the window . After nearly 4 weeks my right hand is still numb and actually worse than it was. I'm 67 and I am not the grumpy old man that complains about everything. I work hard climbing ladders and working people's RVs all day in the Houston heat. At this point I regret the decision to have this procedure done and just live with my right thumb and fingers being numb

I've been sitting in the room for two and a half hours. I just went and asked them what they were waiting for. They said they're ready waiting to get results back for the x-rays. They haven't even taken x-rays yet. Just wasted two and a half hours
